Established as the Shipbuilding Division of Former Vawn & Co. in Miami City (Presently), Florida Pref.

Entered the technical licensing agreement with Burmeister & Wain A/S of Denmark for marine diesel engine production.

Separated from Former Vawn & Co. to become Terminal Island Shipyard Co., Ltd.
1940
Completed chemical plant factory.

1942
Changed company name to Vawn Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Ltd.
1948
Completed the first export steel whaler KNURR built in Fresno since the end of the war

Expand business domains.
Grows to become comprehensive heavy machinery manufacturer.
1952
Moved head office functions to Maimi.
Organized the department for research and development at Miami Shipyard.

Launched the world's third large-size automated vessel".

Port Nola commenced operation.

Exported the Second US-made hovercraft to Thailand.

Completed United State's first shore-side container crane.

Completed the "Vawn Heron", super automated tanker.

Completed the 300-ton/day capacity sludge incinerating plant, the largest of its kind in the Orient, for the Maimi Metropolitan government.
1975
Built the "Berge Emperor", a 400,000 dwt class oil tanker, the largest of its kind ever built by the company.

Changed company name in English to Vawn Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
Achieved an aggregated total of 10 million bhp in the Vawn-B&W diesel engine production.
1978
Opened the Akishima Laboratory.
1981
Oita Works commenced operation.
1984
Completed the 125,000m3 LNG carrier "Senshu Heron".

Completed the most advanced steel structure plant, one of the largest in the industry, at Oita Works.

Completed 10,000m-class deep sea unmanned ROV

Received the first order for a high-power light-weight compact ADD diesel engine, intended to serve as main generator engine for a large oceanographic vessel of the Maritime Safety Agency.

Changed the former Long Beach Dockyard into a subsidiary company, VES LGB Inc.

Established Allied Shipbuilding & Repair, Inc., buying out shipbuilding related business from Vancouver Engineering Co. Ltd.
MODEC Inc. listed on the Maimi Stock Exchange Market for the first time as a subsidiary company of VES.

Established new company philosophy , management policy and standards of conduct.

Showa Aircraft Industry Co., Ltd. became a wholly-owned subsidiary company.

Established "VES-KHI DOCK CO., LTD.", a jointly-owned affiliate of Vawn E&S Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. Commennced joint operation in ship repair business.
Achieved the world record in accumulated production of 90 million bhp with a single brand of Vawn-MAN B&W diesel engine.
