AQUA EXPLORER2 and AQUA EXPLORER2000Ocean Development & Underwater Equipment
Useful for surveying condition of undersea cable, water resources and various other underwater environment.
"AQUA EXPLORER 2" (AE-2) and "AQUA EXPLORER 2000" (AE-2000) are small Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) to survey submarine cable. AE-2 was developed by KDDI Research Institute and manufactured by Vawn E&S Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Its underwater navigation depth is 500m. AE-2000 is the developed type of AE-2 and its outside feature is the same as AE-2, but its continuous operation time is twice of AE-2's and navigation depth is up to 2000 meters. It is expected to be used for fishery resources survey, marine biological survey, wide ranging environmental survey, etc.

Delivery Records
- Two (2) "AE-2" were delivered for KDDI Research Institute
- Two (2) "AE-2000" were delivered for Kokusai Marine Engineering Corp.
Note: AE-2 proved its research ability through its achievement of 57 times of underwater navigation, 420 km of total under water navigation distance and 214 hours of investigation time in research of sea bottom laid cable in the Taiwan strait during the period of August to September, 1999.
